Hafitz Maulana is an independent Documentary Photographer / Lens-based Artist based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Focusing on documentary / journalism and portrait. He has an interest in exploring cross-theme subjects around humanity, the climate crisis, subcultures, digital technology, gender, and social issues.
He has been featured on Lomography Society International, PhMuseum, and is one of the ten finalists of the Permata Photojournalist Grant 2019, whose work is exhibited at Erasmus Huis in Jakarta, Indonesia. He was also a mentee of Jenny Smets, a member of the World Press Photo Foundation's supervisory board.
Prior to beginning his career as a documentary photographer / lens-based artist, he worked in the advertising industry with the Ogilvy Indonesia creative team. From late 2017 through early 2022, he worked as a full-time photojournalist at Tirto.id, a local news bureau. He was then hired by BBC Indonesia on a freelance basis for a nine-month pilot project as the sound director of an Audio Documentary Podcast.
Besides working on editorial, corporate and advertising assignments, he also works on personal projects.
